Owner/ Lead Designer
John Malecki founded Metal & Wood when he retired from the NFL in 2013. He fell in love with the hobby of woodworking, and decided to take a chance sharing his passion and creativity with the world.
John grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA. He attended the University of Pittsburgh where he was a captain on the football team and an all conference guard. He took his talents to the NFL for the following 4 years, spending most of his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
John has studied woodworking, design, and fabrication since picking up the hobby in 2012. He has also cultivated a large youtube audience and thriving social channels.
Lead Designer
Chris Macier joined the team in 2023 and has already created a huge impact on the quality and output of work with the team. He brings 10+ years of 3D modeling and furniture design experience to the team, as well as a decades worth of expertise with CAD and CAM softwares.
